C09 KATHARINE AND BRYANT MATHER STUDENT CONTRIBUTION AWARD
This award is presented to a student or recent graduate of any academic level who has contributed to the field of cement and concrete technology through development of a proposed standard, research paper, or other completed study that is standards related. The recipient will receive an honorarium in the amount of $1,000 plus travel expenses to attend an ASTM meeting of Committees C01 and C09. This award is administered by ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates. |

ASTM INTERNATIONAL KATHARINE AND BRYANT MATHER SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is presented each year, contingent upon available funds, to full time undergraduate students completing their second/sophomore year of college, or later, or graduate students who are pursuing degrees specializing in cement or concrete materials technology, or concrete construction. Each recipient of the Katharine and Bryant Mather Scholarship shall receive $7,500 to be used for their educational expenses. This award is administered by ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates. |

MARY R. NORTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD FOR WOMEN
This award encourages women college seniors or first-year graduate students to pursue the study of Physical Metallurgy or Materials Science, with emphasis on relationship of microstructure and properties. The award was established in 1975 and is administered by ASTM Committee E04 on Metallography. The winner receives $1,000 toward the forthcoming academic year. |

NOAH A. KAHN AWARD
This annual award is granted to a graduating student of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and Lehigh University outstanding in metallurgical engineering or related materials aspects. The award, established in 1963, is administered by ASTM Committee E07 on Nondestructive Testing. |

Committee E08 on Fatigue and Fracture |

|
E08 BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD
This award is given to encourage students to develop, present, and publish high quality research papers in the field of fracture and subcritical crack growth. The papers must be presented at meetings, symposia, workshops, and conferences sponsored or co-sponsored by ASTM Committee E08, and must be published in an ASTM publication. |

Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices |

F04 BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD
This award is coordinated with the topic of a symposium sponsored by Committee F04 every Fall. The competition is open to any students, including medical students, engineers, physicists, chemists, etc. at any level. A call for papers is issued in January with an emphasis on the companies that sponsor research in academic institutions. Interested students are asked to submit a memo on May 1 indicating interest and a final manuscript by September 1. Peer reviewers are selected from the F04 Committee. The manuscript is published with the other papers presented at the symposium. This award is administered by ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices. |

| ASTM International Graduate Scholarship |
| The ASTM International Graduate Scholarship is presented each year to as many as four high-potential graduate students, contingent upon merit and available funds. Each recipient of the Scholarship shall receive $10,000 to be used for their educational expenses. |

| Washington Internships for Students of Engineering |
| ASTM International is accepting applications from students for a 10-week paid internship in the 2009 Washington Internships for Students
of Engineering program. The selected intern will participate in a 10-week summer program in Washington, D.C.,
to learn how government decisions are made on technological issues and how engineers can
contribute to legislative/public policy decisions.

| Dong Zhao, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla., has won the student paper competition sponsored by ASTM International Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices. |

| John van Dalen, from the University of California, Davis, won the 2007 student paper competition sponsored by ASTM Committee E08 on Fatigue and Fracture for his presentation on “Observation and Prediction of Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior in Residual Stress Bearing Coupons.” |
